Economy and Jobs
American entrepreneurship spurs economic growth and serves as the driving force for our country’s job creation potential. Businesses small and large are the backbone of our financial strength – and we in Congress must do everything we can to galvanize their success.
Congress can act to create a favorable climate for job creators. This includes reforming the overly complicated tax code, which stifles job creation and includes one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. Congress must also work to rein in out-of-control spending which has fed a 15 trillion dollar national debt and threatened the long-term stability of our economy.
Another key issue hindering job creation is the health care law. According to a poll done in June of 2013, the mandates and taxes in the Affordable Care Act are forcing half of all small businesses to freeze hiring. Washington should not discourage growth, but instead empower businesses to succeed and create the jobs necessary to facilitate a sustainable economic recovery and create a brighter future for our children.
